Friends of Washington Park is a volunteer organization formed in 2007 with the goal of supporting Washington Park. FoWP is working to promote a public park that improves the quality of life through safe, clean, and well-maintained green space and high quality facilities.


Through the support of Councilman Ivory Young, FoWP members attended the Sixth Annual Parks and Greenspace Conference hosted by Park Pride in 2007. FoWP was the first group to utilize Park Pride's "Mini-Visioning" process to help design a conceptual plan for Washington Park.  One of the early results has been working with the community and the City of Atlanta Parks Department to facilitate the installation of two new playground areas.  FoWP periodically conducts park cleanups with the assistance of groups volunteer groups.
